To be a part of a community who realizes how compassionate farm animals are and to strive to live a more sustainable and cruelty free lifestyle.
Robert and Kerry met in 2014 at a time in our lives that consisted of going out until 2am most weekends, going to almost every concert and lots traveling!
We eventually moved in together, bought a house and in 2019, opened a restaurant. We had all types of food at our restaurant, even a few vegan items. Then COVID 19 hit. We closed our restaurant doors and tried to get used to a slower pace of life…
During the Pandemic we visited a Farm Sanctuary – we had never rubbed a pig’s belly before! In full transparency, we both had lived in ignorance and while we considered ourselves animal lovers, we did consume animal products at the time.
The minute we stepped foot onto the sanctuary, our lives were forever changed!!
We had never understood the pain these animals felt in the meat and dairy industry until that day and on the drive home we did some inner thinking on how we could change our lives to help these animals.
We decided it would no longer be sustainable to have a restaurant that centered on animal products. We sold the restaurant and our home and start looking for larger property to start our Micro Farm Sanctuary. We ended up in Morongo Valley, CA, close to where we both grew up, and 8 months later we had 17+ lifelong ranch residents and we are still growing!
By sharing our story, we hope that we can help open the eyes and hearts of everyone around us. We work hard to strive in our progress, we hope you will come and learn/ grow with our family at Laster Ranch Non Profit Sanctuary.
